Even when you have become a powerhouse in your genre, there are still boundaries for you to push and break. Taking a beat over at Ultra Records, we were treated to the brand new R3HAB remix of Steve Aoki and Maluma’s hit “Maldad”. Since his adventure began, R3HAB has toured some of the best clubs in the world and amassed more than 300 million streams of his debut album. What is actually amazing however is that R3HAB was able to accomplish this with no major label backing, only working through his CYB3RPVNK imprint. Through his expanded efforts to increase CYB3RPVNK’s roster, R3HAB has been recruiting a fantastic variety of up and comers to provide a major range of music to his audience.
“This one was fun. With 2 great names like Steve Aoki & Maluma it’s always an honor to remix a track. Steve and I go way back, of course, and Maluma stands for everything that is cool about Latin artists these days. The combination is great, and I tried to give the song R3HAB’s flavor in the remix, which I think works well. Enjoy!” – R3HAB
We have been absolutely thrilled to see more and more major producers embracing these influences into their catalog. Latin music is still one of the most popular and powerful genres in the world and has been steadily rising among non-Spanish speakers since the early 2010s. While Steve Aoki took the initial plunge and crafted the track from the ground up, R3HAB’s remix allows even more of a wider audience to join in on the fun. R3HAB’s approach may be a bit more melodic and bouncy, both versions are fantastic and quick entries for electronic fans into the Latin world.
