Wrestlemania 30 – Thank You Taker!

Hello my friends, and welcome to my review of the 30th installment of Wrestlemania! Tonight we have numerous advertised main events such as John Cena vs Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H, The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event against Batista and the winner of the Bryan/HHH Match! I’m excited for this event, so let’s get started!

Pre-Show

WWE Tag Team Title Match!

The Usos (c)  vs. Los Matadores W/ El Torito vs. Rybaxel vs. The Real Americans w/Zeb Colter

The WWE Tag Titles are on the line in a Fatal Four Way Elimination Match! This match was great! I loved every second of it, and it certainly was worthy of a Wrestlemania spot and its a shame its on the Pre Show. Los Matadores was the unexpected team for me here. I know the other three teams are good, but I haven’t seen much from them as a team except for the matches with 3MB. El Torito even got involved in the match as he crossbodied Curtis Axel off the shoulders of The Matatdores into all the other competitors, but after Swagger got a hold of one of the Matadores and locked in his Patriot Lock to force them to tap out.

Los Matadores eliminated via submission

Action picked up as both The Real Americans and Rybaxel dominated over the tag champs, but The Usos fought through it and lasted long enough for Ryback to tag himself into the match and battle The Real Americans. Ryback showed off his strength as he tossed both The Americans around, Ryback was looking to take Cesaro out but Cesaro was able to toss Ryback in the air and catch him with the Uppercut followed by The Neutralizer to eliminated Ryback with the three count!

Rybaxel eliminated via pin fall

The Real Americans and The Usos have a stare down. The Real American put their hands over their hearts and said along with the crowd “We The People!” The Usos responded with their Us-O Chant and the battle was on. These two teams went back in forth in an incredible tag team match. We saw close falls and impressive team work, but The Usos got the upper hand when the tossed Cesaro into Swagger and landed twin super kicks followed by a double splash to retain their championships.

Winners and Still WWE Tag Team Champions – The Usos

Rating – 8\10: What an excellent match up. It’s a shame this match was on the pre show, because it deserved to be on the actual Mania card! All four teams went out their and stole the show, and restored my faith in the tag division, but the real thing to talk about here is what happened after the match was over. Swagger frustrated with the loss began to yell at Cesaro and even locked in the Patriot Lock, but after Zeb calmed him down Swagger apologized and extended his hand to Cesaro. Cesaro took the handshake, but turned it into his Cesaro Swing, thus ending The Real Americans! It’s kind of a shame because how well these two worked together, but its obvious Cesaro is over, and its time to push him as a singles star. As for Zeb and Swagger, if they keep Swagger looking as good as he has been, he could still be utilized well, but what I think is the smartest thing to do is to find a replacement for Cesaro and continue with The Real Americans without Cesaro!

The Host Of Wrestlemania

Hulk Hogan comes out to a huge crowd reaction. He gets in the ring and hypes Wrestlemania tonight, and even mistakenly says were in the Silver Dome and not the Super Dome. Hogan went on to saying how anything could happen at Wrestlemania, but he was cut off but the Glass Shattering Music of Stone Cold Steve Austin! The Texas Rattlesnake Stomped down to the ring, and did his usual Turnbuckle stance at each one, and than got into the face of The Immortal Hulk Hogan, and the two had a stare down. I had chills going down my spine at this moment. Austin get on the mic and says “If you want Stone Cold to open a can of whoop ass on Hulk Hogan, than give me a Hell Yea!” The crowd erupted with a HELL YEA! and Austin teased the beat down on Hogan, but ultimately began to tell Hogan how much of in impact he has had in the WWE and much respect he had for him. The two seemed to be done until the music of The Great One played! The Rock headed down to the ring, and this is a true moment right here! Three of the biggest names in WWE History in the ring at the same time! The Rock did his routine and even picked on Hogan for his Silver Dome mistake earlier. He than went on to tell Hogan that if is wasn’t for him telling the kids to say their prayers and eat their vitamins, their would be no boy walking around following Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect. He than started to tell Austin is it wasn’t for him defying the corporation and opening a can of whoop ass on the boss, their would be no Yes Man! Battling The Authority. They all went on to say their catch phrases and than they all shared some beer! Courtly of Stone Cold. I was really hoping to see Austin give Rock and Hogan the stunner or at least the tease of it, but this segment was awesome! I loved every moment of it!

Triple H vs Daniel Bryan

The opening match of the night just so happens to be the one with the biggest impact! Now I’ve never been a big Daniel Bryan fan and in fact Triple H is my favorite wrestler, but the video promo for this match was just phenomenal! You get taken through Daniel Bryan’s career and you see just how far he has come and than you see Triple H take it all away and tell him all his work was for nothing! Stephanie was in the ring and she announces Triple H and we are treated with some crazy music and this awesome entrance by The Game as he truly looks the part of The King of Kings tonight! and hearing The Game by Motohead over the speakers again was amazing! Out next is Bryan who comes out to a huge ovation as he and the entire arean chants “YES!” Tonight Triple H and Daniel Bryan stole the show! Daniel Bryan pulled a side out of Triple H we have never seen! These two went out there and put on a classic technical match. They reversed each others moves, got the upper hand over each other and they both beat the hell out of each other! Triple H hit Bryan with heavy knees huge slams and even hit his Pedigree. It looked like it was over but Bryan kicked out! Bryan got himself back into the match and took it to the Game with stiff kicks and great submission holds. Triple H also got in his fair share of submission holds! There were so many false finishes to this match and at times it looked like The Game would win but Bryan landed on his feet after a back suplex and hit Triple H with the running knee for the three!

Winner – Daniel Bryan

Rating -10\10: Tonight Triple H and Daniel Bryan put on a perfect match! They went out there and gave it their all, and Triple H truly did what was Best for Business and put Bryan over her tonight. The after match beat down was brutal and still sets the mystery if Bryan can capture the title here tonight. As I said before I’m not a big Bryan fan, but tonight he had me chanting Yes! Yes! Yes!

New Age Outlaws (“Road Dogg” Jesse James & “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn) & Kane vs. The Shield (Dean Ambrose (c), Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns)

The Outlaws are out first, and Road Dogg does his normal routine down to the ring, that is before he is interrupted by The Shield’s music, as they come down through the audience and some awesome looking mask. Out next is Kane and the match is underway! The Shield dominated the entire match. I don’t think The Outlaws or Kane got much, if any offense in! There were some cool spots like Seth and Dean flying through the ropes and of course The Triple Powerbomb to both Road Dogg and Billy at the same time, after that it was over!

Winner – The Shield

Ranking – 5\10: This was not what I was expecting! The Shield went out there and completely dominated. There were no signs of hope for their opponents. This match was just filled with a bunch of The Shield’s big moves, and honestly. It felt rushed from the entrances. I wonder if Triple H and Bryan went over time? Eitheir way this match suffered from how short it was. Anyone who was expecting a memorable match form The Shield tonight, was disappointed! Myself included!

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Only two superstars entrances were shown, The Heavy favorite The Big Show and The Celtic Warrior Sheamus. I gotta say for a Battle Royal, this was actually pretty entertaining. We saw some great spots here tonight, such as Sheamus BEATING the chest of Fandango, Kofi flying over the turnbuckle just to land his feet on the steel steps saving him from elimination, and the impressive uppercut from Cesaro to eliminate Rey Mysterio, but I think the most memorable moment was when Cesaro lifted The Big Show up and tossed him over the ropes to win!

Winner – Cesaro

Rating –  7-10: I gotta say, this match caught me of guard! I was expecting a sloppy mess, and to be fair in the beginning it kind of was, but once the ring started to clear out, is when the action started to pick up. Giving Cesaro the rub here tonight was a sign of things to come. After losing the pre show Tag Match and ending his partnership with Swagger, Cesaro went on to bigger and better things and made history here tonight by winning the very first and what could possible be the last Andre the Giant Battle Royal.

Bray Wyatt w/ Luke Harper & Eric Rowan vs. John Cena

The second out of our four main events is next up, and I gotta say I’m really excited for this one! The build has been amazing for this and Bray Wyatt’s entrance was great and hearing Mark Cozer and his band perform is was incredible! I wish I could say the same about this match! Bray played up his character and begged Cena to let the monster out and at times it would appear he was about to, but Cena took it to Wyatt and overcame the odds by reversing Sister Abagail into the Attitude Adjustment for the Three Count!

Winner – John Cena

Rating -5\10: This match was disappointing! The build was so great and I had high expectations, and I guess that was my mistake. There were a few highlights like Bray countering The Five Knuckle Shuffle with a Spider Walk, and of course Bray singing while rubbing Cena’s head was entertaing, and Cena had his fair share like the cross body  on the outside to Harper and Rowan, but the match was slow and Cena winning just felt wrong. This is just a typical Cena match to be honest. He gets beat up, comes back and wins…even if it means young talent doesn’t get put over. With as much praise as Cena gave Wyatt, I thought for sure he would put him over, but tonight Super Cena wins again!

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman

The Video Promo for this match was much better than the actual build to it. Paul Heyman played up Lesnar big time and just made this video such a pleasure to watch, but kind of like the previous match. The match itself was not anything to impressive. Honestly there really weren’t many highlights, just two guys fighting. The most shocking part of the match was the ending, as Lesnar threw Taker on his shoulders for a third time and hit him with another F5 and pinned him for the three, just ending The Undertaker’s 21-0 streak!

Winner – Brock Lesnar

Rating – 6\10: This was a HUGE mistake! I’ve always been one to say The Streak should end, but not this way. Brock Lesnar is almost 40 years old, I believe he is 37. He is a part time superstar, and has absolutely no upside to winning. In fact it feels like the biggest slap in the face. If Taker’s streak had to end it should of been to someone young, but already established just needs that extra push to make them a star! Not someone like Brock Lesnar, and the fact that The build to the match, or even the match itself wasn’t good, really hurts this the most. There is really no memorable thing here. Yes this mania will always be known for the day The Streak ended, but that’s it. The Build up won’t be remembered and the match won’t be remembered. Just the ending, and to end The Streak like that was the biggest mistake the WWE has ever made. Bigger than the XFL and bigger than The Montreal Screwjob.

WWE Divas Championsip

Vickie Guerrero Invitational

Yet another battle royal, but this one is different. It’s not over the top and its not even elimination. The first Diva to score a pin fall or submission is the Divas Champion. Now I really thought this was going to be a train wreck, but it actually wasn’t. It was pretty good in my opinion! There were some great highlights here tonight such as all the divas ganging up on AJ and Tamina, or Eva Marie pushing Tamina down and even The Bella stare off, but at the end of the match Aj locked Naomi in The Black Widow to force her to tap

Winner – AJ Lee

Rating -6\10: This was a fun match. I thought it was going to be a mess, but surprisingly it wasn’t! The Divas looked good tonight. The one fault in this match is the winner. As much as I love AJ, her time with the belt should of ended tonight. She isn’t over anymore, and she offers nothing more to this reign. I was expecting a Total Diva to walk out with the title. Someone like Natalya, Nikki or Brie Bella or even Summer Rae would of made sense, but it seems WWE wants to hold onto Ms. Lee a bit longer.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match!

Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

and now it is time for our main event. Orton is out first to a live performance by Rev Theory! than Batista and out last is Bryan. I’m surprised Triple H didn’t come out and announce himself part of the match, but whatever. I gotta say this match was great. Bryan out did himself tonight with Two great matches, but Byran can;t be given all the credit because both Batista and Orton helped. In fact I think we saw those two fight one on one more than we saw Bryan. The match really started to pick up when Bryan had the YES! Lock, locked in on Batista and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon made thier way through the crowd and pulled the referee out! Than sending in rogue ref Scott Armstrong, made it feel it was over for Bryan, but he manged to kick out of The Batista Bomb and even got a good kick onto Armstrong. Bryan than dove out of the ring to take Armstrong, Triple H and even Steph out. The Game seeking retribution pulled out his trust sledgehammer but Bryan was able to get a hold of it and deck HHH with it. After that is where it went downhill for Bryan, as both Orton and Batista worked together to take out Bryan and even hit an amazing combination of The Batista Bomb and RKO through the Spanish Announce Table! Bryan seemed out of it has he was put in a neck brace and began to get stretched to the back, while Batista and Orton battled in the ring. Bryan was able to get out of the stretcher and urge himself back into the match, but paid for it when The Viper Struck. After some great back in forth action between the three, Bryan locked in the YES! Lock for a second time on Batista and forced him to tap out! Gaining him is retribution!

Winner and New WWE World Heavyweight Champion – Daniel Bryan

Rating – 9\10: This match was GREAT! Both Byran’s matches tonight could potentially be Match of the Year! As many mistakes as the WWE made tonight at Mania, this was no one of them. They gave Bryan his moment and I may not like the guy, but it is well deserved! At the Wrestlemania were the WWE rushed the Shield, let Cena bet Bray, ended The Streak and aloud Aj to continue her reign, the one thing they did right was give the WWE Universe what the really wanted and that is Daniel Bryan as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion!

Superstar of the Night – Brock Lesnar

Tonight was Daniel Bryan’s night, but Lesnar stole the show tonight! As much as Bryan deserves to be superstar of the night, I just can’t make him it. He accomplished a huge goal tonight. Competed in the best matches and won the World Title Finally! but he didn’t end the streak. 18 men have tried to end The Deadman’s streak and only one could, and even though I hate giving it to him and how pissed I am that The Streak ended that way and it still did. Brock Lesnar did the impossible tonight when he became the first and only man to defeat The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, and that is why he is the superstar of the night!
