Logan Lynn Shares New Singles “AMERIKKKA” and “Everything And Everyone You Have Ever Known” Alongside Exclusive Scenes from Award-Winning Documentary The Pain and The Power
Portland artist and activist Logan Lynn has announced The Pain and The Power, a new documentary directed by Cai Indermaur that explores his 30-year career through the lenses of queerness, faith, addiction, trauma, and personal reinvention. Paired with an original soundtrack album arriving on September 4, the film uses music as a central part of the storytelling rather than simply as background, offering an intimate portrait of Lynn’s journey both on and off the stage.
Alongside the announcement, Lynn shared the singles “The Cocaine Scene” and “Too Hard,” two upbeat electro tracks that introduce the project’s emotional core. Released through PortuGAY, KNIK Records’ new LGBTQ+ imprint founded by Portugal. The Man, the songs examine the exhaustion of addiction and the challenge of letting go of behaviors that can become deeply tied to a person’s identity.
“‘AMERIKKKA’ is perhaps the most confrontational song I’ve ever written. It’s about watching queer and trans people become political targets in real time and recognizing that, for many of us, the danger is no longer theoretical. It’s about the grief and terror of realizing that the country I call home is increasingly willing to erase my humanity — and wondering what I am supposed to do when it’s already too late to run.”
“‘Everything And Everyone You Have Ever Known’ turns that lens inward. While ‘AMERIKKKA’ confronts the violence of the outside world, this song explores the interior landscape of isolation, memory, and survival. As a queer man, I’ve spent much of my life navigating loneliness, addiction, loss, and the feeling of existing on the margins. It’s about the moment when external noise fades and I am left alone with myself, carrying the weight of everyone I have loved, everyone I have lost, and every version of myself I have had to leave behind. Together, these songs help to form the emotional core of ‘The Pain And The Power.’ One is a warning. The other is what it feels like to live with that warning every single day.”
Portland artist and activist Logan Lynn continues building anticipation for The Pain and The Power with the release of two new singles, “AMERIKKKA” and “Everything And Everyone You Have Ever Known,” both featured on the award-winning documentary’s original motion picture soundtrack. Accompanied by exclusive scenes from the film, the songs offer a deeper look into Lynn’s personal story, exploring the intersection of identity, activism, and survival. While “AMERIKKKA” channels anger and urgency into a direct response to the growing hostility faced by queer and trans communities, it also serves as one of Lynn’s most politically charged and emotionally confrontational works to date.
In contrast, “Everything And Everyone You Have Ever Known” turns inward, reflecting on loneliness, addiction, grief, and the lasting impact of the people and experiences that shape us. Together, the two songs create the emotional core of The Pain and The Power, balancing outward resistance with deeply personal introspection. Paired with scenes from the documentary, they underscore Lynn’s ability to transform lived experience into music that is both intimate and universally resonant, offering an honest portrait of resilience in the face of adversity.
