Sully Showcases His Range and Diversity As A Producer In New EP “Encrypted”
Since we were teased with this melodic bass sound last month, we’ve been waiting for the full experience to drop. On our latest visit over to Wakaan we are checking out Encrypted, the latest EP from Sully. Created by Detroit-based producer Christopher Sullivant, Sully became to being back in 2019 as Sullivant stepped onto the professional music scene. An alumnus of the Los Angeles acclaimed Icon Collective, Sully began cultivating a dedicated following through a series of self-releases that demonstrated Sully’s core fundamentals as a producer. Sully caught the attention of Wakaan in late 2019, where he made his official label debut and continues to thrive with audiences with his wavey soundscapes. Sully uses the creative juices that he generates with Wakaan to explore many different genres while still keeping his core sound intact.
“The Encrypted EP represents unlocking a new dimension of my creativity. I didn’t want a ‘genre’ or ‘style’ to dictate what I put into this project which yielded a well-rounded product like I’ve always tried to accomplish with my music. From the sound design to the songwriting, I put endless hours into making sure this project was a step forward for me creatively.” – Sully
We knew that we were going to go back into this world that Sully has created, but we weren’t prepared to go on this adventure again so soon. While we were given our first taste of this Encrypted world via the EP’s first single “Deeper”, now that we’ve been finally given the go-ahead to deep dive we can tell that this EP is going to be a treat. Consisting of four individual tracks, each single of Encrypted plays within a different boundary and subgenre of bass music, aiming to let Sully expand his sound in an audible playground. Encrypted is simply put, an intriguing showcase of Sully’s range as an artist, as well as what you can make by pushing a creative boundary. Whether it is aggressive driving bass, surreal synthesizers, or even banger drum kicks, there is something here for any level of bass head.
