The world of rock may not dominate the mainstream that much these days, but the independent side is thriving with many talented musicians. This time around we are checking out “Losing Breath”, the brand new single from the pop-punk band ROCKET. Making a name for themselves in the Los Angeles/So-Cal alternative scene, ROCKET is made up of musicians Janelle Barreto (Lead Vocals), Eric Wibbelsmann (Guitar), Steve Kilcullen (Guitar), Ozzie Hammer (Bass), and Paul DePatie (Drums). While still relatively new to the scene, ROCKET has already received plenty of praise for their addictive alt-rock style. The sound exists in a similar vein to the likes of Green Day, Foo Fighters, and early Paramore, while still striving to stay as unique as possible and represent ROCKET. Snagging features in multiple magazines like Hollywood Digest and Rebel Noise and receiving plenty of airplay on alt-rock radio stations, ROCKET is quickly rising to the top of the alt-rock pool.
“We all just clicked from the get-go, had similar influences and a singular mindset. We are dedicated to being a voice for those who’vebeen told they’re weird, strange or don’t fit in.” – ROCKET
The band’s initial collaborations have gained them a solid dose of praise, with many thanks to Grammy-nomination producer Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees) for adding his Midas touch. Their latest single, “Losing Breath”, is ROCKET’s way of capturing a screenshot of our ever chaotic world. The track looks at how the American public is reacting to tough subjects like COVID-19, the death of George Floyd, criminal unrest, as well as the current President of the United States to name a few. Music has always been used as a vehicle to talk about sensitive subjects, and we are glad to see ROCKET is no exception. “Losing Breath” has almost endless replayability and we have no doubt that this track will stand out as a core alt-rock track for the year.
ROCKET has extensive touring experience, having performed with multiple major players such as Missing Persons, Alien Ant Farm, Puddle of Mudd, Tantric, and Trapt. ROCKET has even ended up as a finalist for Warped Tour’s Battle of the Bands and one of the Top 6 Finalists by the Kaaboo Del Mar Music Festival’s “Kaaboo Discovers”. Jump on this fan base while ROCKET takes off and soars through the skies.
