When you have a triple threat artist like we do today, you know that they have the Midas touch and turn everything they are involved with into gold. This time on our trip over to Dim Mak we are checking out “Nervous Habits”, a brand new single from GG Magree. Officially making her debut back in 2016, it was clear right out of the gate that GG Magree was going to take over. Her vocal debut on “Frontlines” with NGHTMRE & Zeds Dead, has already surpassed 28 million streams alone! With remixes of Billie Eilish’s “Wish You Were Gay” and multiple successful originals under her belt, GG Magree has quickly become one of the most sought after artists today. Make sure you check out one of GG’s live shows, as they are some of the most energetic performances on the electronic stage.
Aiming to bridge genre gaps and break down a few walls, GG recruited Joey Fleming to add the sprinkle on top. Having been introduced to the creative process behind music at a young age, Joey has had plenty of time to craft his lyrical style and to convey his feelings to the audience. A major player in Los Angeles’s underground punk rock scene, Joey has been steadily creating music as a prominent member of the punk rock band In Her Own Words. However, today is the day he dives headfirst into the world of electronic and dance.
“Everyone has that one love that they can’t break away from… ‘Nervous Habits‘ is a story about mine.” – GG Magree
While the track may appear optimistic and almost bubbly on the surface, “Nervous Habits” is definitely on the other side of the spectrum. GG Magree’s and Joey Fleming’s voice sync up and flow together surprisingly well, showing the diversity in music that Joey’s voice can accompany. GG seamlessly flows between her dream-pop inspired bass music to dropping and representing melodic dubstep, with neither style fighting for control. As a DJ, producer, and a singer/songwriter, “Nervous Habits” showcases GG’s pure and raw talent as a triple threat. She officially wins us over with her relatable lyrics, completely personal and filled to the brim with angst. Boy, do we relate. As soon as the music industry comes back online, we are making sure to catch both GG Magree and In Her Own Words when they are in our neck of the woods.
