Ravenscoon Closes Out 2022 With A Bang, As Pure Dubstep Energy “Collide” in New EP
When energies like these collide, your best moves are to either jump out of the way or step directly into the explosion. On our latest visit over to Wakaan we are checking out Collide, the latest drop from Ravenscoon. Born in Georgia but now based in San Francisco, CA, Paul Conversano’s love of electronic music continues to flourish with whatever genre he happens to dive into that day. While he has become known for combining elements of hip-hop, punk rock, and death metal through the medium of experimental bass, no genre stone goes unturned once Ravenscoon steps into the booth. While this unique blend can be found in his original works, his highly popular mixtape series allows him to flow in and out of genres with ease. Already making a statement this early on in his career, Ravenscoon has no plans of slowing down and we take the industry by force.
“I wanted to round off 2022 by releasing three of my heaviest tunes to date – all specifically designed to smash the dancefloor. The COLLIDE EP is my way of showing my fans that I can do it all while also highlighting two of my favorite up and coming dubstep producers, VLCN & RUVLO. Each song revolves around driving melodies, energetic 808 intros, and massive sounding bass design. Continuing my tradition of releasing an EP in December, this year’s installment seems to be the heavier spiritual successor to last year’s FUN & GAMES EP where I explored the trap & “wook bass” sound.” – Ravenscoon
I’m super excited to put out “RATED R” with Ravenscoon as this was a track that allowed me to step back from some of the stuff I’ve been currently making and switch it up with something reminiscent of an older style of music that I used to make. At a first glance, a Ravenscoon & Ruvlo collab seems like something that is extremely left field but naturally our sounds complimented each other’s extremely well and the finished product is something that gets the crowds moving and absolutely rocks the systems. RATED R is a well crafted mix of heavy and weird which fits perfectly in both of our sets showcasing both of our styles. – Ruvlo
“I love how this track is the perfect blend of contemporary dubstep and experimental with a heavy old school flavor influence. I got the Wakaan logo tattooed on me four years ago; the entire label and family that Liquid Stranger created had such a huge influence on my early music career. Fast forward to now and I’m excited to announce I’ll be releasing a new track, “Bussin,” with Ravenscoon on Wakaan as part of his “Collide” EP dropping on 12/16. While it is evidently clear that when we go to Wakaan and its sister label we are in the more for that sweet atmospheric bass. Yet, every so often we need a reminder that the world of dubstep is lurking just around the corner and Ravenscoon kicked down our door to personally deliver that reminder. Dropping his latest three-track EP Collide with Ruvlo and VLCN, Ravenscoon uses each one of these tracks to allow a different technique to take center stage. While Ravenscooon has an assortment of chopped vocal samples, poignant snares, and roaring bass that are ever prevalent throughout each track, the mind-melting dubstep that bass heads crave comes in many different servings. After a slew of major releases from Ravenscooon throughout this year, we can only say what a way to close out 2022 and prepare the audience for a cranium-busting 2023.
