When you have a major collaboration like this one, it is almost guaranteed to have various mixes following in its wake. On our latest visit over to APG we are checking our two new remixes of “Sad Boy” from R3HAB, Jonas Blue, Ava Max, and Kylie Cantrall. Since his adventure began, R3HAB has toured some of the best clubs in the world and amassed more than 300 million streams of his debut album. What is actually amazing however is that R3HAB was able to accomplish this with no major label backing, only working through his CYB3RPVNK imprint. Through his expanded efforts to increase CYB3RPVNK’s roster, R3HAB has been recruiting a fantastic variety of up-and-comers to provide a major range of music to his audience. With R3HAB consistently popping up on our radar, we have absolutely no idea what he is going to do next and can’t wait.
Once we knew that both R3HAB and Jonas Blue would be serving as producers on “Sad Boy”, we had more than a clear idea that each would have additional remixes to add to our playlist. This need became quickly apparent after the original track was released last month and has already netted over 10 million streams online and entered Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Chart. Both remixes take different approaches to tweak the track’s original dance-pop formula, each adapting them to fit the re-emerging nightclub scene. The Club remix takes advantage of the original’s infectious bassline, riding that building energy for a bouncier and a more house-inspired sound. On the other side, the VIP mix introduces “Sad Boy” to the underground, using driving bass and funky synth to essentially create a “late-night” variant. With two new remixes in the catalog, if you weren’t addicted to “Sad Boy” already now you have two more styles to choose from.
