Protocol Drops 1st Single of 2022, Roc Dubloc x Gid Sedgwick’s Electro Retrowave “Ready Or Not”
They may have given the final single of 2021 to one of their veterans, but 2022 is kicking off with newcomers. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out “Ready Or Not”, the latest single from Roc Dubloc and Gid Sedgwick. While Protocol has been around for a decade now (being founded by Nicky Romero in 2012), the imprint still knows how to cultivate talented producers to consistently tweak their overall label sound. THis time they are making space for Roc Dubloc, who was been gaining massive support from playmakers like Hardwell, Benny Benassi, Fedde Le Grand, and more! He actually just released his previous single, “Plata O Plomo” over on Revealed Recordings, expanding the newcomer’s reach. He isn’t alone however, as Gid Sedgwick joins Dubloc in the studio for this release. Sedgwick has worked with Jeffrey Sutorius, Ilan Bluestone, Maor Levi, Maduk, Omiki, and more, including Armin van Buuren’s 2020 hit “Another You”.
While both Dubloc and Sedgwick are making waves in their regions of the electronic pool, “Ready Or Not” marks the debut of both artists joining the ranks of Protocol Recordings! With both producers bringing distinctly different styles to the table, they find a thrilling middle-ground that gives us a peek into what kind of sound Protocol will be exploring in 2022. While haunting vocals and cinematic bassline steadily build to the track’s main drop, the juicy sustenance comes when the pent-up energy of “Ready Or Not” is finally released. As the bass drops, the electro meets progressive house sound invades our ears in infects our limbs, beckoning us to get up and dance. Taking this electro/progressive sound and combing it with beats and other retrowave elements hits us in a place where we haven’t felt in a while, nostalgic and optimistic for this year in music. 2022 is going to be an interesting year Protocol and you better keep up.
