There are only a handful of producers that we are confident to say that when they pop into our inbox, we need to take a few minutes to hear what they’ve made asap. On our latest visit over to Protocol Recordings we are checking out “Turn Off The Lights”, the latest from Nicky Romero. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament. Romero’s list of accomplishments keeps growing, now including a brand new partnership with Fader Pro and a release of his own NFT collection!
Even though it has taken a few months for this to drop in any official capacity, “Turn Off The Lights” is finally officially a Protocol release. The latest addition to the lengthy Romero catalog, “Turn Off The Lights” has been a mainstay in Romero’s live sets for the last few months as he has been testing the waters for another new single. A festival banger through and through, “Turn Off The Lights” is yet another step on the journey to return to Romero’s progressive house roots, With all of the makings of a dancefloor filler, we aren’t entirely surprised that “Turn Off The Lights” has been received well from Romero’s fanbase during his live shows. With “Turn Off The Lights” already receiving praise in the house music community, we can confidently say that Romero is off to one hell of a strong start in 2023.
Also, we now have a Discord! Feel free to join the community, and if you have singles you want us to feature you can connect with us there!
