Marc Benjamin, Timmo Hendriks, VY.DA + Alessia Labate Drop Bouncy “Hold Me Down” (VIP Mix)
Sometimes you have a different vision that you can’t leave on the studio floor. On our most recent visit over at Protocol we are checking out a brand new VIP Mix of “Hold Me Down”, the latest from Marc Benjamin, Timmo Hendriks, VY.DA, and Alessia Labate. Marc Benjamin has been flourishing on the Protocol stage for quite some time now, showcasing his impeccable taste of brilliant productions. Benjamin brings his impeccable taste and knowledge in production to the Protocol team, which is always a valued asset. Our veteran this time around, Marc Benjamin, decided to make his comeback on Protocol for the single reason, to flourish on the Protocol stage. While Nicky Romero led Protocol Recordings has always been on the front lines of showcasing upcoming music artists, it’s refreshing to see even Protocol breaking their protocol to try something a bit more unique.
There are times when you release an official single, but you have a variant that, in your eyes, is just too good to not release to the masses. While this can cause some confusion if the remix because larger and more widespread than the original, but it can also light a fire under the ass of the original track to keep it up. So on this second official version of “Hold Me Down”, Benjamin and co pivoted away from their original progressive house line of thinking and turned the VIP Mix into a bouncy dancefloor banger that deserves to be in our club’s playlist. While we fell in love with “Hold Me Down” in terms of being an homage to the early days of big room, this twist brings the mix into the modern dance scene where it can truly thrive. If this VIP Mix shows us anything, it is that a project’s end result can be very different with just a shift in perspective.
