Kandle Teases New Spring Project “Set The Fire” With 3rd Raw & Emotional Single “Misty Morning”

While we see this chameleon-esque style of music production quite often in the EDM world, we don’t see it often enough in the indie world. On today’s dive into the indie world we are checking out “Misty Morning”, a brand new single/video from the ever-talented Kandle. Growing up in British Columbia with her father Neil Osborne, Kandle was able to experience the music industry from a rather unique perspective. Determined to move against the fray, Kandle made it clear that she has no desire to create disposable ear candy. She has no plans to chase playlist placements, as she simply just wants to tell her story. Following in the path laid for her by strong female icons like Nancy Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey, her true love of music will serve as her guide. Kandle has already snagged the attention of audiences and critics, snagging a “Video of the Year” JUNO nomination as well as a Prism Prize award for her track “Not Up To Me.”

“‘Misty Morning’ is my first real love song, captured on a napkin while in Ischia, Italy when I was truly happy. My songwriting usually comes from a place of turmoil and catharsis, but this was simply a snapshot of a perfect, vulnerable moment. In recording it, I wanted to hide behind lush orchestration, but my producer/ best friend Michael Rendall had other ideas. He wanted to strip it down to just piano & a single vocal to take me out of my comfort zone and re-capture the open-hearted feelings I had while writing it. The song and the recording both hold for me a time when I dropped my guard for pure authentic love in spite of all my flaws and failures. In that moment, I felt my true value as a whole person for the first time.” – Kandle

Alright, let’s face the facts. We at Modern Neon are complete suckers for when an artist strips back the grandiose instrumentals and simply plucks away at those ivory keys. In preparation for Kandle’s next project this spring, Set The Fire, she dropped the third single from the album as her first true love song. “Misty Morning” resonates with us on a different level, serving as a track about reflection on the feeling of true love that many of us may never find. The single might very well be Kandle at her most vulnerable, filling each note with purposeful emotion that sucker punches us right in the feels. Along with the single Kandle reconnected with “Honey Trap” director Brandon William Fletcher to create an equally emotional music video. Centered around Kandle’s performance with her piano, the video enhances the raw and open tone that embodies “Misty Morning”.
