Eighty Ninety Release New Single “2 Carat”, Teases Upcoming Debut Album
The New York indie scene has been a bit quiet without Eighty Ninety kicking around. On our latest dive into the indie space we are checking out “2 Carat”, the latest drop drom Eighty Ninety. Bursting onto the scene back in 2016, Eighty Ninety hit the ball right out of the gate with their debut single “Three Thirty”. Quickly after its initial release, the single reached #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts and they seized the opportunity to drop their full EP Elizabeth. Now snagging over 25 million streams online, the Eighty Ninety catalog was even selected by Taylor Swift for her official Spotify playlist “Songs Taylor Loves”.This latest single will join the duo’s previously released singles “Happier” and “Better With Friends” on their next EP, The EP, the is a collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Gian Stone (Maroon 5, Dua Lipa) and will drop later this year.

With two EPs and a handful of standalone singles under their belt, Eighty Ninety has been an act to watch in the wider indie pop scene for quite some time now. While both brothers have been busy working and writing singles for other artists, “2 Carat” marks not only a return to form for Eighty Ninety but also the start of a brand new yet familiar journey. While “2 Carat” is the latest addition to the Eighty Ninety discography, this is also the first single from their upcoming debut album, which we should expect to hear sometime later this year. If the light, breezy, yet emotional vibe of “2 Carat” is any indication of the sound of the 2023 version of Eighty Ninety, then we should prepare ourselves and open the door to experience some of our feelings.
