Cade Hoppe Shares New Single “Lake Michigan”
Hoppe’s path into music was far from traditional. While studying finance and playing basketball at New York University, he found himself increasingly pulled toward songwriting and production. When the pandemic hit, he decided to pursue music full-time, supporting his early releases through service industry jobs as he developed his sound as both an artist and producer. After spending seven years in New York City, Hoppe recently relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues to expand his emotionally driven style while taking on more production work for other artists.
He first introduced that cinematic, introspective approach on his 2021 debut EP, Tell Me How It’s Worth It, before building on it with Everything That’s Wrong with You in 2022 and Just Look At The Moon in 2023. Along the way, Hoppe has earned support from outlets like Notion, Ones To Watch, and EARMILK, cementing his place as an emerging voice with a talent for pairing vulnerable songwriting with immersive production.

Cade Hoppe returns with his new single, “Lake Michigan,” a warm and reflective indie-pop track accompanied by an official music video. Driven by shimmering melodies and laid-back grooves, the song explores the gap between expectation and reality, using a cross-country road trip as a metaphor for the ways life rarely unfolds according to plan. As Hoppe explains, the track is about setting out for the Pacific Ocean and learning to accept that sometimes you only make it to Lake Michigan instead.
Following “Still Turn This Around,” “Lake Michigan” serves as another preview of Hoppe’s upcoming album, Safer at a Distance. The project examines his evolving relationship with music, ambition, and the emotional toll of chasing an uncertain future, balancing moments of self-reflection with existential questions about purpose and success.
