When you reach the 10-year anniversary of a major project or brand, you need to celebrate it in a big way. On our first visit to the Protocol Lab we are checking out “Stuck On You”, the latest from Repiet & Andrew A. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament. Romero’s list of accomplishments keeps growing, now including a brand new partnership with Fader Pro and a release of his own NFT collection!
That’s right you read that right. After creating Protocol Recordings all the way back in 2012, label boss Nicky Romero is proud to announce the brand new sub-label Protocol Lab. While we’ve already received an early taste of the sound we should expect from this imprint, mainly via compilation EPs around ADE, we are excited to hear the first official release from the fully formed Protocol Lab. With a focus on more experimental music genres and fresh talents, Protocol Lab was carefully crafted to be a fresh new outlet for artists ready to enter the Protocol Recordings pipeline. “Stuck On You” is a perfect launching off point for the sub-label, as Repiet & Andrew A combine elements of big room house and future bass to create an experimental amalgamation that fits well within Protocol’s wheelhouse. You know we are going to be keeping a close eye on the Protocol lab moving forward, so stay tuned!
