It is about time we get into the holiday spirit with a bit of unique cheer. On our seasonal peek into the holiday music world we are checking -out “Tinsel”, the latest single from musician Everett Bradley. For those of you unfamiliar with Bradley’s work, he is a Grammy-nominated rock percussionist who is most well known as a veteran member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band! Bradley has worked with David Bowie, Hall & Oates, Carly Simon, Cyndi Lauper, Quincy Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Stomp & NBC’s Meredith Vieira Show to name a few, while currently working alongside Bon Jovi. Now that we are in the festive time of year, Bradley is back with his Holidelic show that he started back in 2002 after 9/11. Holidelic continues to sell out every year and this year will be no different. If you are lucky enough to catch a show, this year it will be running at NYC’s Lucille Lortel Theatre from December 10th-31st.
After 9/11, I felt like we all needed to heal, and the way I was going to do that was by writing Christmas songs. Then I got the idea to combine two of my favorite things – Christmas and funk.” – Everett Bradley
When it comes to Christmas music, we are prominent believers in our household that while there are a few classics that must be in our rotation, we need to make room for the more unique and uncommon Christmas singles. Created as an inspiration for this year’s run on Holidelic, “Tinsel” is a retro funk-filled Christmas pop single that is purely infectious. NYC’s Lucille Lortel Theatre’s Tinsel: A Global Holiday Celebration, features effervescent live music, performance, and dance with leading artists from around the globe. Bradley’s addition of “Tinsel” feels like a perfect middle ground for those people who only want retro music during their Christmas festivities and those who have an appreciation for modern funk. We can confidently say that “Tinsel” has already found a place on our festive rotation this year and it could join yours in just one click.
