Toronto’s Talented Brother Duo HjNX Release New End of Year Indie Pop Single “MOVe”

While you might be a seasoned vet in one industry, sometimes it takes just a simple pivot to find a new home. On our latest peek into the indie world of our Northern neighbors we are checking out “MOVe”, the latest single from HjNX. Consisting of multi-instrumentalist Gregory Calderone and supported by co-writer/co-producer/sibling Mark Calderone, HjNX is a talented indie duo kicking around Toronto. Gregory originally found his creative outlet in film and television, being an active actor in North American television/films since 2005. Gregory’s on-screen performances include lead, recurring, and guest-starring roles in Salvation (CBS), The Good Doctor (ABC), Heroes Reborn (NBC), In Return (eOne) and the new series Sort Of (CBC/HBO Max) just to name a few, as well as a number of screenwriting credits. Mark, who professional goes by the name Nicemark, has worked with Gregory in numerous bands over the last ten years, as well as releasing his own music! However, once the pandemic struck back in early 2020, HjNX found themselves in the unique position to be a studio and began releasing music together, all independently made by themselves.

The more we dive into the indie world, we are seeing that is actually pretty common for an actor to dip their toes into the music world. While both brothers are individually talented in their own rights, once they join forces they become an indie-pop amalgamation and find their collective calling. Utilizing prominent drum work and synths, HjNX transforms “MOVe” from yet another indie-pop song into an emotional and uplifting anthem to take into 2022. “MOVe” also includes collaborations from friends of the duo, Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene and Ernesto Barahona (Arkells, Birds of Bellwoods, Conor Gains), adding additional layers to the track’s production. While they only have a handful of single under the HjNX banner as of right now, “MoVe” is another addition that will continue fueling their creative process.
