Carla Harvey has never been one to follow the conventional path, and her latest venture, The Violent Hour, is no exception. The Detroit-born musician, former Butcher Babies frontwoman, author, comic book creator, and certified grief specialist has spent her career balancing the chaos of rock ‘n’ roll with an equally fascinating obsession with death and the human experience. After 15 years touring the world with Butcher Babies, Harvey found herself ready for a creative reset, teaming up with legendary drummer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera) to make the kind of music she’d always wanted to create. Drawing inspiration from old-school rock, punk, heavy metal, and the rebellious spirit of the ’90s Riot Grrrl movement, The Violent Hour delivers a gritty, unapologetic sound packed with crushing riffs, massive hooks, raw emotion, and plenty of attitude. Heavy rock outfit The Violent Hour, led by powerhouse frontwoman Carla Harvey, have announced their highly anticipated debut album, Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things, arriving January 22, 2027. Across 11 tracks, the record blends the gritty attitude of old-school rock ‘n’ roll with the emotional depth of alternative rock and the unapologetic intensity of heavy metal.
