Simply put, today is a day for Seether. On our latest peek into the hard rock world we are checking out Vicennial: 2 Decades of Seether, the latest compilation from Seether. You know, there aren’t many groups/artists that we cover on Modern Neon that we know you should recognize, but today’s band is definitely one. Forming in Pretoria, South Africa all the way back in 1999, Seether quickly rose to prominence as one of the most influential rock groups throughout the 2000s. Just one look at their numbers says it all: three platinum and two gold albums, 17 #1 singles, 21 Top 5 multi-format hits, single sales topping 17 million, and over 2 billion streams worldwide. The band released their eighth album in 2020, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum (If You Want Peace, Prepare for War), and is widely considered one of their greater releases featuring a handful of their best singles. If you had any doubt that after their storied career Seether had grown stale, this talented band continues to thrive in the 2021 rock music landscape.
“Twenty years is a major milestone for us; we’ve been on an amazing ride – alongside our fans – and we plan to continue that journey. Putting Vicennial together gave us a chance to look back on our body of work over the years, and to rediscover some of our older songs during the pandemic that brought us all to a standstill. We hope that everyone enjoys the compilation as much as we do now, after this historic lockdown, and we look forward to seeing our fans again at live shows in the future.” – Shaun Morgan (Singer)
While normally we just kind of push compilations over to the side, this one is a major collection of greatest hits. Celebrating the over two-decades-long career of Seether, Vicennial consists of twenty songs that are not only all Top 5 radio hits but have also snagged 16 #1 chart positions on their original releases. For long-term fans of Seether, you can find major smashes such as “Fake It”, “Remedy”, “Rise Above This” and “Country Song”, just to name a few highlights. To celebrate the album’s drop, Seether performed all twenty tracks for the first time together at the Ace of Spades in Sacramento, CA. We were actually able to attend the show, and let us tell you that even after such a long career, Seether still puts on one hell of a show. For die-hard fans and collectors out in cyberspace, a Seether.com exclusive 1,500-unit limited-edition custom mixed opaque purple 2-LP vinyl can be pre-ordered now for when it releases on January 7. Vicennial – 2 Decades of Seether is definitely worth experiencing, and any hard rock fan should already be pushing play.
