There are just a few subgenres where we are absolute suckers whenever a modern producer taps into it. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out Good, the latest drop from Low Blow. Protocol has been on the front lines of discovering talented artists out of the weeds, each time incorporating that artist’s sound into their overall style. Today’s artist, Low Blow, is an energy producing duo hailing out of Spain and bringing an almost neo style along with them. Primarily focusing on electro-house originals and remixes, Low Blow has been incredibly busy over the last year making their mark in the EDM world. After a year of producing Low Blow caught the eye of TurnItUp Music and that put their music into a global rotation. The duo has gained plenty of recognition through official remixes of DANK & Lorensa‘s “One Life,” Sick Individuals & Justin Prime‘s “Guilty” feat. Nevve and Nicky Romero & Sick Individuals‘ “Only for You.”
One of many Protocol producers that has a dynamic producing style under their belt, Low Blow is a producer that doesn’t miss the mark any time he drops a new single or larger project. Originally premiered during Protocol’s 10-year ADE anniversary last month, “Good” is Low Blow’s take on how disco would sound in the modern age with the right hand guiding it along. Utilizing an 80’s inspired vocal riff and bouncy basslines as the backbone of the EP’s title track, Low Blow showcases that he has no struggles amping up the funk and groovy levels of a track until it can’t contain itself any longer. Low Blow mixes up the formula for “You Can’t Stop Me”, which ends up being a downright dirty single much akin to the signature Low Blow sound we are familiar with. While it may only be two tracks on the offering table this time, we are willing to jump on board with a Low Blow disco hype train.
