It’s been a minute since we’ve added more fresh blood to the Protocol roster, especially from the legendary Dutch EDM scene. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out “Push It”, the latest drop from FAULHABER & Lukas Vane. Hailing from the Dutch EDM scene, FAULHABER knew that he was on the road to being a professional producer…especially when he was already wandering around the clubs at age 16. He’s already able to snag major projects with Brazilian superstars Vintage Culture & Alok on “Party On My Own” (75M streams on Spotify) and with Felix Jaehn & Toby Romeo on “Where The Lights Are Low.” On the flip side, Lukas Vane originally pursued a career in music and theater, uncovering his passion for DJing when he was 15. Only a year later, and Vane has already performed shows in Spain, Belgium, Greece, and the United States. Two fresh meats with quite different backgrounds? We’re game.
While Protocol is all about promoting and lifting up their fresh artists up to their continuously growing audience, you have to have some legs to catch the Protocol eye in the first place. With “Push It” being FAULHABER & Vane’s official debut on the imprint, they have to make the right impression to stay within the rotation. While we had some notions going into this single, we were pleasantly surprised as the track wasn’t as dry and formulaic like recent tracks from the Protocol camp. A dynamic tech meets bass house single “Push It” sets the tone immediately with a vocal hook and kick drum combination that almost immediately catches our attention. Using laser synths and horn melodies to keep the tone through and through, FAULHABER & Vane crafted a rather interesting approach on what could have been just another bass house single. We hope to hear more from both camps in our rotation soon!
