Producer Manic Focus Runs Wild in the World Of Hard Surreal Bass in New EP “Future Flux”

With the worlds of bass music and downtempo thriving, more artists find their niches and are able to showcase the best they have to offer. On our latest visit over to WAKAAN we are checking out Future Flux, the brand new EP from Manic Focus. The latest project from John “JMaC” McCarten, a superb producer that has been absolutely killing it out of Denver, CO. Originally hailing from the Twin Cities, McCarten developed his love for music early on with the piano and developed a natural ear for music production. With plenty of musical influences to choose from, McCarten found his roots in funk, soul, and new-era hip-hop, all with the intention of expanding upon those roots to develop his own sound. Since starting his career, JMaC has released six full studio albums, 15 singles since the last major drop, as well as numerous remixes for the likes of Zed’s Dead, Pretty Lights, and GRiZ to name a few. He’s also had many notable festival performances, including Lollapalooza, Hulaween, North Coast Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and many more!

“This EP is an exploration into the heavier side of the Manic Focus vision.  In recent years, I have performed with many Wakaan artists, and their styles have inspired me to dive deeper into sound design and arrangement to create exciting synths and textures that I haven’t previously included in my compositions.  Future Flux is my journey through the heavier side of my mind, and my optimism for mankind’s ability to change and grow in a positive way through difficult times.  I think it’s important to head into the future with optimism, armed with knowledge, balance, and the ability to let go and rage through the moments that hinder our growth as individuals.  I had a blast creating these tunes, and playing them live for my fans has been an amazing experience.” – Manic Focus

With out busy our schedules are nowadays, we almost let this drop pass us by and would have kicked ourselves for doing so. After teasing the EP when Manic Focus dropped the initial single “Back From The Future” last month, we prepared ourselves for a heavier fever dream than what Manic Focus brought to the table last time. Everyone has very distinct parts of their style and brain, with Future Flux being a showcase of Manic Focus’s heavier side, where he doesn’t pull punches while contorting futuristic sounds to create this audible experience he’s envisioned. While Manic Focus may be the key maestro behind this Future Flux amalgamation, the EP features two collaborations, thus welcoming AHEE and K+Lab to the beautiful madness. If you want to experience what happens when a bass music maestro doesn’t hold back and let’s their imagination run wild,  then push play on Future Flex already!
