With barely taking a moment to breathe, this artist is ready to raise the hype meter for his new album. We meandered over to Monstercat for “Til Dawn”, the second official single off of ShockOne’s upcoming album A Dark Machine. Beginning his career all the way back in 2009, ShockOne immediately made his name known to the masses as one of the top rising bass producers in the industry. ShockOne’s “Chaos Theory”, released in 2012, has been his most significant hit yet, reaching silver and gold spots on electronic charts. “Chaos Theory” completely broke genre standards, but proved that there are no barriers for ShockOne’s creativity.
I couldn’t be happier to join the Monstercat roster. It’s a brand known for pushing boundaries and a label releasing some of the most forward-thinking releases for my genre of music. It really is the perfect home for A Dark Machine and excited to have them work this record to every corner of the world alongside my long term home label Warner Music.” – ShockOne
If anything is made clear after this single, it is that the theme of A Dark Machine will be a solid dose of hard-hitting drum’n’bass blended together with just enough electro house. The track feels oddly reminiscent of 1980’s science fiction films, as we wouldn’t be surprised to find “Til Dawn” on a Blade Runner-esque soundtrack. ShockOne manipulates the listener into a musical game of cat and mouse, complete with eerie buildups and heavy gritty synth work. Can we just say that after “Run” and “Til Dawn” that we can’t wait to hear the final LP? A Dark Machine will be released on Monstercat on August 1st, so make sure you come back for our full review.
