Québec City’s The Carringtons Bring Garage-Pop Punch And Big-League Hooks To New LP The Reunion
Since regrouping with a tighter lineup in 2023, The Carringtons have been moving fast, releasing music regularly, touring across Canada and expanding into Europe with eight shows through France, Belgium and the UK in 2026. That same urgency drives The Reunion, a sharp, fast-moving record rooted in Québec’s long garage-rock tradition but reaching well beyond it. Drawing on punk, indie rock and power pop, the band keeps its rough-edged energy intact while pushing toward bigger melodies, stronger hooks and more adventurous arrangements.
Working with Ian Popovich, along with creative director Hugo Mudie and mastering engineer Marc-André Beaudet, The Carringtons add electronic textures and unexpected production touches without losing the immediacy of their guitar-bass-drums attack. The Reunion feels like a band expanding its sound without cleaning up what made it exciting in the first place.
Québec City garage-punk veterans The Carringtons return October 2 with The Reunion, a ten-song record that pushes their scrappy roots into something bigger without losing the speed or directness that defined them. Recorded and mixed by Adrian Popovich at Mountain City Studios in Montréal, the album blends sharp guitars, huge choruses and punk-rock economy with synths, electronic textures and more polished arrangements. Somewhere between The Strokes, Bad Nerves, Spiritual Cramp and The Hives, The Reunion feels like a band finally comfortable enough in its own identity to stop worrying about genre and focus on what it does best: hooks, momentum and songs that hit fast.
Release-week focus track “Emptiness” captures that evolution perfectly, packing regret, frustration and emotional burnout into exactly two minutes without sacrificing immediacy. That same push and pull runs throughout the album, with songs like “Trust,” “Hope,” “Romance,” “Isolation” and “Obsession” showing a more mature, introspective side of the band while keeping the energy high. The Reunion is less a comeback than the sound of The Carringtons figuring out what comes next — keeping the distortion, DIY instinct and rough edges intact while learning how to make the songs bigger than the rooms where they started.
