Pink Elefants Take A Darker Approach To Show The Importance of Self-Love In New Single “Sinderella”
Sometimes the best way to push your point forward is through an abstract veil. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “Sinderella”, the latest single from Pink Elefants. A musical project found by lifelong friends Finch and Illeven, Pink Elefants made their official debut back in 2019. Based out of Maryland, our duo has been incredibly busy pumping out a series of consistent releases that have been quickly growing the Pink Elefants identity. The band finds the process of creating music the most rewarding part of the process, with their process evolving and maturing as the Pink Elefants grow in tandem. Beginning last yeast, the duo even host a nightly show on their Facebook page where they perform original mixes and covers. Fun fact, the duo’s name is actually borrowed from the “pink elefants” sequence in Disney’s Dumbo film back in 1941!
“at the beginning of the video when we sit down and begin to watch the performance, the dancer in front of us seems grotesque. We begin to judge her, harshly. As that happens, our true selves begin to surface, while our actress transforms and heals. The monsters at the end almost feel helpless as they spew their disgust, but the dancer smiles…she has transcended and become more of herself, no longer affected by the harsh opinions of man.” – Pink Elefants
While we were all bright and sunny in our introduction to Pink Elefants with their previous single, this time we’re going into the abstract. The latest track to come out of the Pink Elefants camp, “Sinderella” is a darker indie hip hop number with positive undertones. Through the vehicle that is abstract-horror, Pink Elefants explore concepts such as the importance of self-worth, self-love, and self-acceptance. The track is a more melancholic pop approach for the duo, allowing them to play around with bombastic hip hop beats with a darker ballad, but keep their core motif intact. The music video for “Sinderella” drives home the song’s abstract-horror theme, focusing on a beautiful dancer who is perfecting her performance in front of some savory individuals. This track shows that even though a much darker tone, Pink Elefants can still motivate and inspire audiences everywhere.
