Messer Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix Releases New Album Cuts Out Today, Shares Focus Track + Visualizer “Break Open”
Messer is the solo project of Mitch Grassi, the three-time Grammy-winning vocalist from Pentatonix, marking a bold departure from his a cappella roots into a more personal and experimental musical territory. Since his 2021 debut EP Roses, which fused 80s synthpop influences with modern pop sensibilities, Messer has expanded his sound with evocative singles like the vulnerable ballad “Halfway,” showcasing a deeper emotional range and a willingness to explore intimate storytelling through atmospheric production.
His latest album, Cuts, brings together songs that Mitch had previously set aside, revealing his core identity with raw honesty. The album navigates the complexities of falling in love, blending excitement, fear, and hope, while also embracing “shadow work”—the process of confronting one’s darker inner self. Through Cuts, Messer invites listeners into a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, vulnerability, and artistic freedom, redefining himself beyond the expectations of his previous work.

Following a memorable album release show in Los Angeles, Messer will continue to share this vibrant new sound with an upcoming performance in Berlin at Lido on July 30.
