Dropping your official debut in a new venture is important, but your follow-up can absolutely be nerve-wracking. On our latest visit over to Stabby Records we are checking out “Body”, the newest drop from label boss Sam Blacky. Producer, model, and influencer, Samantha Black is already a triple threat but primed and ready to take on more. Better known as Sam Blacky, Sam originally hailed from San Diego, Ca but didn’t find her love for music production until moving to Australia for a number of years. Once moving back to Los Angeles, music production and performing live immediately took center stage in her life. Including her modeling schedule, Sam performed all around the world from 2017-2021, with no travel destination escaping her grasp. During the pandemic in 2020, Sam Blacky even created a YouTube series called “A New World” where she live-streamed her favorite sets from locations all around the world!
“‘Body‘ was 100% inspired by my love of travel & tropical, foreign destinations. Obviously, before COVID, what seems like so long ago, I would be in a different country almost every weekend and get exposed to all sorts of new styles of music. I took it all in like a sponge, I was obsessed with every new song I heard & I couldn’t believe how different all the sounds were. I collected bits and pieces from all over the world to culminate my own sound & take different aspects from every place I had been and combine them all together. The song went through tons of rounds of changes and edits because every time I would come home from another trip, I would have something more to add. I hope it comes across in the work, because it truly was inspired by the world.” – Sam Blacky
She may have just dropped her official debut last month, but Sam Blacky is quickly finding her own niche within the electronic music community. Officially dropping her second single today to the masses, “Body” is a solid house track that gives listeners a clear idea of Sam’s burgeoning style. Inspired by her travels all around the globe, “Body” blends both Sam’s love for traditional house music with tribal drum and bass that introduces the listener to the track’s worldly sound. Sam’s vocal performance is the stand-out facet of the track, creating an ethereal experience that contrasts with the rest of “Body”, deepening the production’s complexity. The track’s style directly relates to Sam’s “A New World” video series, where you can catch her latest set from the beaches of Mexico.
