Kandle Unleashes “Creation of Poison” A Gothic Workout Fever Dream About Falling In Love With A Monster
Every single major project Kandle drops is a beautiful piece of art that stands alone in its own era of Kandle’s career, Growing up in British Columbia with her father Neil Osborne, Kandle was able to experience the music industry from a rather unique perspective. Determined to move against the fray, Kandle made it clear that she has no desire to create disposable ear candy. She has no plans to chase playlist placements, as she simply just wants to tell her story. Following in the path laid for her by strong female icons like Nancy Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey, her true love of music will serve as her guide. Kandle has already snagged the attention of audiences and critics, snagging a “Video of the Year” JUNO nomination as well as a Prism Prize award for her track “Not Up To Me.”. Kandle was also nominated for a 2021 Prism Prize for Set The Fire first single, “Lock and Load,”.
“I wanted to make something that felt like if Jane Fonda got lost in a David Lynch film — equal parts sweat, seduction, and swamp. t’s about realizing you’re addicted to the very thing that’s destroying you — and dancing through the chaos anyway.”
Montreal alt-pop artist Kandle unleashes her most daring era yet with “Creation of Poison,” a sultry, unhinged anthem that dives headfirst into the thrill and wreckage of toxic love. With smoky vocals and darkly cinematic production that evoke PJ Harvey and Portishead, Kandle transforms emotional chaos into performance art — a fearless confession wrapped in noir-pop allure. Co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Jeffrey Mitchell, the track showcases their trademark DIY chemistry, crafting an intoxicating blend of heartbreak, satire, and self-destruction.
The single’s accompanying video — a gothic, Jane Fonda-inspired fever dream — turns a pastel workout tape into a swampy, surreal spectacle where camp and catharsis collide. Directed and edited by Kandle and Mitchell, it captures the absurd beauty of spiraling out with style: “It’s about realizing you’re addicted to the very thing that’s destroying you — and dancing through the chaos anyway.” Released via Hidden Pony Records, “Creation of Poison” cements Kandle’s place as one of alt-pop’s boldest storytellers, expanding her lush, noir universe where pain glitters, eyeliner is armor, and destruction has never looked so seductive.
