While every producer tweaks their style in even a slight way to make themselves unique, real artistic prowess glares in between the lines. In our latest visit to Romero’s Protocol Recordings, we have DØBER and his newest Twisted EP. Protocol continues to impress us with their collection, continually expanding their offerings with a wide variety of styles. With DØBER officially debuting on the label, his tech-house production is a much-needed addition to the roster and providing a break from the progressive. Now that DØBER found his place in the roster, there are plenty of other producers and artists ready and waiting for this tech-house newcomer. What will DØBER do next after the Twisted EP? We will have to keep following to find out.
We haven’t had a solid dip into the tech-house world in a hot minute, so DØBER’s drop is actually quite the surprise. First off, this Twisted EP is a fantastic example of just how adaptable DØBER’s style is to the signs of the times. An amalgamation of tech-house and electro, DØBER provides us a full suite of these skills throughout the EP. He opens with “Make It Better”, giving us a simple taste of his ideal future house grooves. The bass increases sharply as it flows into “Losing My Mind”, where DØBER dabbles in his own version of the trap music world. DØBER closes off the Twisted EP with perhaps our favorite song, “Twisted”, and his playground for minimal beats. We have been a fan of minimalist electro for a long time, and we are glad to discover DØBER’s sound to add to our rotation.
