Julian Lamadrid Drops Sophomore Album “Rebels of The Neon God”, A Genre-Crossing Adventure

Surrender your arms and prepare to embrace The Neon God. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out Rebels of The Neon God, the latest album from Julian Lamadrid. A Mexican musician and multi-instrumentalist, Lamadrid has truly taken his own life journey in order to create the music he wanted to create. Originally born in Dubai, Lamadrid fought against the city’s overwhelming amount of excess and material gains. Discovering his love for music through the likes of Iggy Pop and Freddy Mercury, Lamadrid needed to escape Dubai’s suffocating excess and uncover a true sandbox for him to develop his own style. After moving to NYC and studying film at NYU, Lamadrid landed a record deal with Arista Records in 2019 and released his first album Mala Noche later that year. Since then, Lamadrid has caught the eye of many tastemakers like  V, Wonderland, CLASH, Flaunt, L’Officiel, and Billboard to name a few…leading to where we are now. His sophomore album, Rebels of the Neon God, is on the horizon.

“The album is centered around the dichotomy between frustration and dance, vacancy and ecstasy; enlightenment through pain,” says Julian. “I have glimpsed into the eyes of The Neon God, pierced through the void and come out the other end, desperate for connection, hungry for the eternal.” – Julian Lamadrid

While Lamadrid may be a fresh addition to our casual rotation, we’re already willing and able to become one of his rebels. The sophomore album from Lamadrid’s camp, Rebels of The Neon God is an album that simply can’t be identified under just a few genre tags. While Lamadrid’s vocal performances on each track direct the album into the world of pop, the instrumentals and musical arrangements tell a different story. Utilizing bouncy bass, sonic synths, and addictive melodies, Rebels of The Neon God sounds like it was ripped right out of the 1980s, splashed in the modern EDM pool, then presented to the audience. If you take Lamadrid’s vocals and the instrumentals apart, there is a rather drastic yet interesting story playing out that we can’t help but want to dissect. It has been quite a minute since we’ve been so eager to peel back the layers of a unique album, and we have to give Lamadrid all of our thanks. If you want an incredibly interesting electro-inspired pop album , join us as Rebels of The Neon God.
