Honest Men Release Sophomore Album “Field of Vision”, A Pure, Prime Indie-Alt Masterclass

The more we expand our scope in terms of music that we cover, the more we are enticed by talents in the indie/alt world. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out Field of Vision, the latest album drop from Honest Men.  Originally created back in 2016, Honest Men came to fruition after frontman Seth Findley, guitarist Brooks Whitehurst, and drummer Zach Solomon met during their college years in Waco, TX. Determined to carve their own path and introduce their alternative style to the masses, Honest Men took to the road and continued to extend their reach throughout Texas and the surrounding states. Over the course of the first few years, the band quietly grew their audience through a number of singles + EPs to build out their discography. As their audience grew, Honest Men grew as well, becoming adults and looking at their music in a new light. When the world closed its doors in 2020, Honest Men locked themselves in the studio and put their nose to the grindstone. The result? Field of Vision.

“A lot of life has happened between our first record and Field of Vision. These are the songs that came out of us during that time. Our music and songwriting became less of a celebration of what CAN we do and say and more of an introspective look into what SHOULD we do and say. We think fans will connect with these songs in a new and profound way but above all, these songs are for us. They’re us processing love gained, love lost, beliefs redefined, the all-consuming feelings of solitude, and everything in between. Life happens! But we’re only in control of what’s in our immediate field of vision. Here’s to making the most of it.” – Honest Men

While releasing your debut album is always the biggest step in your career, we’d argue that your sophomore effort is just as important. Your second album often shows how you’ve grown as a band/artist since your last drop, as well as your sound’s evolution over time. Today’s band, Honest Men, had the rare chance to experience this growth from a different perspective…literally becoming adults trapped in their homes during a pandemic compared to an album from their college years. Field of Vision showcases all of Honest Men’s core traits, from addictive hooks and catchy melodies to vulnerability in their lyrics. The album itself is an exploration of humanity’s fragility including, love, loss, fear, and doubt, all through a polished mature sound. While Honest Men have been making waves in the alt music world for a beat, we can only look forward to seeing where they go from here. IF you are a fan of indie/alt music, Field of Vision and the rest of Honest Men’s catalog are worth diving in headfirst.
