While it is often a major honor to be first pick, being second is just as important since now the format is intact. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out “Slumped”, the latest drop from Din & Vic. While it seems like everyone has been incredibly busy over in the Protocol camp, no one has been as busy as Nicky Romero and Protocol’s A&R manager Jorik van de Pol. A veteran producer in his own right, Jorik has been spearheading Protocol’s latest effort for expansion…”demo:drop” sessions. Hosting these sessions live on Nicky Romero’s Twitch.tv channel, Jorik and Protocol allow upcoming and rising producers to submit their latest single for live feedback. Ever have a new single that you want an expert’s opinion on? Tune in the first Friday of every month and press submit!
While the program first got our attention last month with their “demo:drop” of R.Braga and Galluxy’s “Nobody Else”, we have a much different track on the chopping block this time. A more classic four on the floor style of house music, Din & Vic created “Slumped” to keep the dance floors warm and toasty deep into the night. Letting a more minimalist bassline drive the track forward while sprinkling in a few laser effects to give the track some flair, “Slumped” slots perfectly into the more underground side of Protocol. Hell Protocol’s label boss Nicky Romero enjoyed the track so much, he’s already performed it during multiple of his own live sets! We can’t wait to see what kind of dance music we will receive from Jorik and co during next month’s “demo:drop”.
