Devan Makes Official Debut With Her Brand New Honest EP “Pink Noise”
Tiptoeing the line between authenticity in your music and your personal life is a very thin line with a balancing act that is true art to keep stable. On our latest dive into the indie world we are checking out Pink Noise, the official debut of Devan. Discovering her passion for music at the fresh age of 10, Devan tried jumpstarting a music career with a homemade demo for the iconic Olympic Studio. Devan may be finally striking out on her own, but her voice may sound familiar if you are familiar with the band Wild Rivers. Devan co-founded the collective and has been an active performer of the group for the last six years and assisted the group in snagging over 140 million global streams. While Devan continues to hone her sound, she joined forces with fellow alt-pop musician Corey Harper to help craft her debut.
“Pink Noise is about insecurity, but it’s also about being able to breathe out and feel a sense of relief towards my revelation that my reality is formed by my own perceptions. Writing songs for me is a way to uncover my underlying feelings about something – putting elusive emotions into tangible sentences, and coming to terms with them. My only guideline for writing these songs was to try to be as honest with myself as possible, and follow my instincts without all the self-inflicted barriers that I usually let get in the way.” – Devan
After doing plenty of teasing back in January, Pink Noise is finally out in full, skating around on the digital web for everyone that is willing to enjoy. Pink Noise is a monumental milestone for Devan, serving as her official debut release beyond a series of wildly successful singles that have set the stage for Pink Noise to run wild. Devan uses Pink Noise to finally introduce the kind of artist that she yearns to be, but finding the road to that end goal is notoriously difficult. Pink Noise utilizes this feeling as its core concept, exploring the uncertainty of navigating your 20s and just exactly what you want to add to the world before you leave. The EP is one of the most honest EPs we’ve featured on Modern Neon, and it is definitely worth checking out if you want to hear more from Devan.
