Bass Heads Rejoice! Bass Maestros G-REX x Buku Join Forces, New Experimental Bass Single “Collide”
Wehn you have two label mainstays on the same production, you know that you have to at least take a look and put that project under a microscope. On our latest visit over to Wakaan we are checking out “Collide”, the latest drop from G-REX and Buku. Buku has been slowly becoming acquainted with the modern audience, having received praise from legendary producer Bassnectar and moderate success from previous releases. This has also allowed him to travel all around the world, with just coming off an Australian tour and moving along to a North American tour through July. One of Buku’s viral tracks, “Ready 4”, even made it onto the soundtrack of Madden ’18! The Madden curse didn’t affect Buku that much, as since then his career has only catapulted up the ladder. Buku has even netted many major performances at prominent stages such as Lucky, Suwannee Hulaween, Lost Lands, Something Wonderful, SomethingWicked, Imagine, and Sunset Music Festiva. While Buku may be a renowned studio rat, he is constantly creating intriguing live shows and performances while relentlessly touring around the world. A Buku set is one that you have to experience live.
“Collide” sums up the concept of the Dual Continuum EP and tour. We really wanted to bring the worlds of BUKU and G-REX together for this project and I feel like this track does exactly that sonically. It came together perfectly and our sounds really play off each other exactly how we had in mind.” – G-REX
We’ve been spending too much time in the astral realm of bass music and it’s about time we took a hard right into a more aggressive surreal sound. A definite hard pivot from our previous dive into bass music, “Collide” sound s almost perfectly like its namesake. A collision of both G-REX and Buku’s sounds, the track is equally mesmerizing in its intricate sound design and an onslaught to the ears with Buku’s overwhelming driving and stabbing bass. Regardless of what level of bass head you are and what style of bass music you embrace, “Collide” was crafted to have massive appeal to the wider bass music community as a whole. The track feels as if it is the culmination of the bass music niches we’ve previously explored, all wrapped up tightly in one package just waiting to burst.
