Toronto’s Wine Lips Turn Modern Chaos Into Fuzzed-Out Catharsis on New LP ‘TV Dinner’
Over the last decade, Wine Lips have grown into one of Canada’s most successful independent rock exports, amassing more than 50 million Spotify streams, earning praise from Iggy Pop, landing music in film, television, and video games, and touring extensively across North America, Europe, the UK, Hong Kong, and China. Known for their sweat-soaked live shows and relentless energy, the band has built a distinct sound that blends garage punk, psychedelia, and fuzz-heavy rock with sharp, memorable songwriting.
Their latest album stays rooted in that signature chaos while turning its focus toward the absurdities and frustrations of everyday life. Packed with hooks, humour, breakneck energy, and blown-out guitars, it’s loud music for loud times—thirty-five minutes of controlled disorder that proves Wine Lips can still sound reckless while becoming increasingly precise.
On TV Dinner, Wine Lips turn the frustrations of modern life into thirteen loud, frantic rock songs built around addiction, rising costs, endless scrolling, wellness culture, housing anxiety, and the small dopamine hits people lean on just to get through the day. Tracks like “Cut It,” “Trip to the Doctor,” “Thirst Trap,” and “Semi Detached Furnished Home” find humour in everything from nicotine cravings and algorithm brain rot to impossible rent and contradictory health advice, while “If You Don’t Know” and “Strip Club DJ” bring a more reflective and absurdly human edge to the record. Rather than escaping the chaos of 2026, Wine Lips lean directly into it, turning everyday stress into something cathartic, funny, and surprisingly relatable.
Recorded with longtime collaborator Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario, TV Dinner keeps the rough edges intact, favoring instinct, happy accidents, and personality over polished perfection. Years of touring have made the band tighter without making them cleaner, and that balance gives the album much of its energy. Aurora Evans also steps further forward with lead vocals on “Projector,” adding another dimension to a record that never loses sight of its heart. Beneath all the satire, TV Dinner is ultimately about trying to stay sane in an increasingly absurd world—and turning the volume up until the noise starts to feel like release.
