Talking Violet Share Heartfelt New Single “Destroy”

Talking Violet blend shoegaze’s swirling atmospherics, grunge’s grit, and dream-pop’s shimmer into a self-coined genre they call “dreamo”—a lush yet piercing sound that balances intimacy and intensity. Formed in Windsor, ON, the four-piece—Jillian Goyeau (vocals, guitar), Jayden Turnbull (guitar, vocals), Jeremie Brousseau (drums), and Dylan Iannicello (bass)—craft music that wrestles with the grief of personal change, especially within relationships, creating songs that feel both infinite in scope and deeply personal.

Their emotionally charged style has earned them notable support, including a #2 peak on SiriusXM’s The Verge, placements on major Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, and a 14-week run on the NACC charts. “In Your Mind” is the next chapter in their evolution—emotionally raw, sonically expansive, and wholly human, offering listeners a space for catharsis within its cascading walls of sound and quiet, vulnerable moments.

Following their recent single “In Your Mind,” the band returns with “Destroy,” a song that turns inward to explore closure and acceptance. While “In Your Mind” reflected the helplessness of loving someone through pain, “Destroy” is about saying goodbye to a chapter in life marked by change and emotional growth. “It’s me finally accepting that people can both love you and hurt you at the same time,” Goyeau explains. “You can love someone even when they aren’t meant to be in your life anymore.” The track acts as a personal farewell, a way to process and release the lingering weight of past relationships.

“Destroy” continues the emotional journey of their album Everything At Once, drawing from the grief of shifting relationships and self-discovery. Goyeau reflects on how those changes forced a reevaluation of identity: “I had to slowly relearn who I was—and spent years healing my people-pleasing baseline. It’s still something I work on every day.” With its introspective lyrics and emotionally charged melodies, “Destroy” captures the complexity of love, loss, and growth, offering both a sense of heartbreak and the quiet relief of moving forward.
