Sophie Simmons Returns With New Emotional Solo Release “Love Turns Lonely”, Hitting Our Feels Hard

Especially when it comes to the EDM world, there are artists that become go-to’s for features and rarely put out solo music. On our latest visit over to Physical Presents we are checking out “Love Turns Lonely”, the latest drop from Sophie Simmons. If you have been a fan on electronic music for any amount of time, today’s artist might sound familiar. Taking up a love for singing by age 4, Sophie knew that she had what it takes to pursue a career as a musician. Her audiences have grown a bit larger, now performing for audiences of 20k people is the norm. With over 300 million streams under her belt, Sophie has proven that if you need sultry vocals for you house track, you need to enlist her. You may have heard her work on Felix Cartal’s “Mine”, R3HAB & Kelvin Jones’s “Downtown”, Sam Feldt‘s & Ella Henderson‘s “Hold Me Close”, and Leah Kate’s “F*ck Up The Friendship” to name a few.

Love Turns Lonely‘ is my first solo release in a long time. I took a break from releasing to focus on writing for other artists. It was a very organic way to get back into artistry. I wrote it with three of my closest friends, and I think you can hear the love in it. ‘Love Turns Lonely‘ is about a fizzling relationship; where the partner in the song is being a bit distant and dramatic. The narrator is lost and the love they had is slowly turning to loneliness.” – Sophie Simmons

When you start finding your niche as a featured artist, you start to shift your focus away from writing your own music. While Sophie has made quite a career writing and producing for other artists, she still needed to get back to her roots. In her strong return to the industry with a solo single, “Love Turns Lonely” shows that just stepping away from a bit to re-adjust can make you come back just as strong as ever. An intimate dance-pop crossover, “Love Turns Lonely” explores a relationship on the brink of ending, putting Sophie’s skill for storytelling to use as the narrator’s nostalgia for their early days causes loneliness.  Even though it feels intimate in nature, this single stands out for its organic instruments and overall cinematic feel. If you want to lose yourself in your emotions this holiday season, “Love Turns Lonely” will definitely get the job done.
