What is this? A MiR release at the beginning of the week? Well, we like to give your work week a nice kickstart. This week we have “Talk of the Town”, the latest from Rainer + Grimm. Having just started in 2014 after they met in music school, the duo came together to form the project know as Rainer + Grimm. This project was only fuel to the fire, bringing both underground dance music and the Toronto R&B scenes together into a blissful hybrid. The duo has garnered quite a bit of success with their remixes, such as their remix of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”, even going as far as to reach #1 on The Hype Machine. We need to keep an eye on this project as we will be seeing more throughout the rest of the year.
“Talk of the Town” is just the latest in the pure firestorm that Rainer + Grimm have become recently. This latest track features a fantastic collaboration with UK artist Plain English and is being distributed by the duo themselves! With an overall focus on the current grime movement, Plain English’s almost grungy vocal work complements the classic UK drum and bass sound that Rainer + Grimm have crafted. “Talk of the Town” is a fantastic homage to many of the best features that classic UK garage and house introduced to the music world.
“This video was done a lot more guerrilla style than any of our last videos but turned out to be our favourite to date. With the vocals, the beat and the video all come together better than we could have ever imagined.” – Rainer + Grimm
