Oregon Rockers AM Clouds Embrace The History of Rock With “High Desert Rock” in New “Rainmaker” LP
When you first dive into the world of modern music, you often get stuck with a label and put yourself into a box But once you get that sweet indie moniker, your styles can be absolutely absurd and brilliant. While we have been scouring the internet for unique acts, AM Clouds came in our inbox with their latest drop Rainmaker. Founded up in Oregon in 2016, AM Clouds consists of musicians Bruce Troy Moon, Graham Boostrom, Pete Ficht, and Dan Paggi, all bringing their different styles of rock to the pot. Meshing all of these eras of rock music, AM Clouds crafted a unique style that adds plenty of indie Americana while incorporating modern alternative into the mix. AM Clouds found plenty of warm local success with their first War of Love EP back in 2017, giving audiences their initial taste of the AM Clouds sound. Interesting fact, the band’s name came from a common broadcast term for the weather in their hometown of Bend, Oregon. The weather influence doesn’t stop there, as it has even led the band to coin their style as “high desert rock”.
With this interesting blend of rock styles, AM Clouds has their work cut out for them to stand out from the crowd. We feel Rainmaker is actually a pretty solid drop in showcasing the “high desert rock” style the band is rocking. Our favorite track on the drop, “Tune Me In” exemplifies plenty of different influences and allows them to flow perfectly! For example, the introductory notes of “Tune Me In” give us feelings of nostalgia for the classic Puddle of Mudd and Staind. All the while Bruce Troy Moon’s vocals give us early Sully Erna of Godsmack vibes and tones, being backed up by the beat and melody of Tom Petty. If you are a fan of the rock genre and its extensive catalog, you will definitely find something to enjoy in AM Clouds.
