NYC Pop Duo Eighty Ninety Wish to Reconcile Their Love in New Intimate Single “Forever”
The world of indie pop is limitless, it is all about how you use the tools at your disposal to get your message across. On our latest trip down the rabbit hole we are checking out “Forever”, the newest single from NYC pop duo Eighty Ninety. Bursting onto the scene back in 2016, Eighty Ninety hit the ball right out of the gate with their debut single “Three Thirty”. Quickly after its initial release, the single reached #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts and they seized the opportunity to drop their full EP Elizabeth. Now snagging over 25 million streams online, the Eighty Ninety catalog was even selected by Taylor Swift for her official Spotify playlist “Songs Taylor Loves”.This latest single will join the duo’s previously released singles “Happier” and “Better With Friends” on their next EP, The EP, the is a collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Gian Stone (Maroon 5, Dua Lipa) and will drop later this year.

With the barrier of entry to the music industry changing, the world of indie pop keeps pushing out interesting acts that are learning how to control their craft. “Forever” details that feeling that is very common in today’s day in age, the feeling of wanting to reconcile a relationship with a previous lover even after they no longer feel the same way. While tracks tackling feelings like this are a dime a dozen, acts like Eighty Ninety come in to be that diamond in the rough. Without the intimate instrumentals and lyrical prowess from this duo, “Forever” could just be another track in our weekly coverage. However, Eighty Ninety’s production takes it to a different level, a more intimate feeling while they are trying to get their point across. Honestly, we can sit here and spew how much we like Eighty Ninety’s process, but we feel that it is best stated by the duo themselves. “We let the emotional arc of the song, rather than any set of genre conventions, lead us to instruments and sounds,”
