maxresdefault (9)The story follows Satoru Fujinuma, a man who somehow possesses an ability that sends him back in time moments before a life-threatening incident, allowing him to prevent it from happening. When his mother is murdered by an unknown assailant, Satoru’s ability suddenly sends him back eighteen years to when he was still in elementary school, giving him the opportunity to prevent a kidnapping incident that took the lives of three of his classmates.

Oh Erased, how long have I been waiting to review you. Erased is a fantastic series for fans of mystery and murder, but get bored of the paranormal. The original Japanese voice cast is absolutely fantastic, each individual embodying the characters perfectly. The animation style is also crisp and impressive, which I completely enjoyed as I has been disappointed as of late. While the writing sometimes becomes quite convoluted at some points, it evens out and makes for an entertaining and interesting story.

vlcsnap-2016-03-10-16h20m56s674Even though I completely loved Erased, it is only about 80% love and 20% hate. I don’t normally watch anime simulcast, but I was convinced by numerous people to give Erased a shot. Watching as a fan was absolutely aggravating as each episode ended with a cliff hanger. EVERY…GOD…DAMN…EPISODE. My last gripe is that, while Satoru’s ability is interesting, it is never explained why he has the power. It adds a little mysticism to the character, but I don’t feel that it is necessary.

PROS:

  • Original voice cast.
  • Animation style.
  • Confusing yet interesting story.

CONS:

  • Cliffhangers for every episode.
  • Why does Satoru have revivals?

SCORE: 8.5 / 10
