Nicky Romero Eases Listeners Into The Winter Season With Dance-Pop Crossover “Why Do I Call”
At this point in his career, Nicky Romero is simply a chameleon of a producer. On our latest visit to Virgin Records we are checking out “Why Do I Call”, the latest release from Nicky Romero. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series back in 2019 and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon. Hell, he even put on one hell of a performance at the London opening of the Call of Duty League eSports tournament. Romero’s list of accomplishments keeps growing, now including a brand new partnership with Fader Pro and a release of his own NFT collection!
Once you are at the point where you are not only comfortable but applauded for moving out of your comfort zone, you know you’ve reached a level above the rest. While Romero made is initial run-up during the progressive house boom, Romero has been dabbling in and out of adjacent genres for quite some time. The latest addition to the Romero catalog, “Why Do I Call”, is a solid dance-pop crossover with the right amount of Romero flair to ease us into the holiday season. This single serves as a true showcase of Romero’s dynamic range as a producer, putting both his fusion production skills and his heartfelt lyrics/vocal performance under the spotlight. While “Why Do I Call” is a safe radio-friendly track, Romero adds just a dose of dance influence to help bring new listeners into the EDM fold.
