New Orleans Americana Act Loose Cattle Release Their Powerful New Studio Album “Heavy Lifting”
While we are all about the high-energy mania that electronic music offers us, it is clear that at some moments we just want to slow down. On our latest dive into the indie world, we are checking out “Filling Space”, the latest single from Loose Cattle. For those unfamiliar with Loose Cattle, they are a new New Orleans / New York Americana band fronted by two-timeTony Award & Grammy winner Michael Cerveris and Kimberly Kaye, Founded all the way back in 2011, Cerveris and Kaye connected over their shared love and passion for roots music in the vein of Johnny Cash’s and June Carter Cash’s duets. Starting off playing country covers in their friend’s living rooms, Loose Cattle gained buzz and they found themselves performing on stages such as Lincoln Center to Jazz Fest & NPR’s Mountain Stage. Their initial release Seasonal Affective Disorder snagged them plenty of praise from the country fan base as well as major outlets like Rolling Stone Country and the Los Angeles Times!

However, after all of that praise and nearly a decade-long career, Loose Cattle finally stepped into the studio to make a proper studio album. Recorded back in what seems another life ago (early 2020), Heavy Lifting sports a wide variety of music featuring sounds that expand across the years. The album weaves in and out of the guitar-driven country, folk, and southern rock, while taking their moment in the spotlight to explore themes of resistance and true resilience of marginalized people throughout the world. The final single off of Heavy Lifting, “Filling Space” emanates the album’s core themes…all set to an almost melancholy waltz. The pain and emotion within each note overflow into your ears and heart, providing you with a serious moment of introspection if you are willing to take it.
