Neo-Soul Artist Rozzi Drops New Single “I Can’t Go To The Party”, Teasing New Upcoming EP!
Vulnerability and openness are amazing traits to have as a musician, especially if you have crafted an honest songwriter persona. On our latest dive into the indie world we are checking out “I Can’t Go To The Party”, the latest single from Rozzi. Officially debuting back in 2018 with Bad Together, Rozzi has been quietly injecting her neo-soul musical sound into the indie music scene. While her debut gained her plenty of buzz, Rozzi skyrocketed with her following collaborations with rapper Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T. However, the fire didn’t stop there, as Rozzi joined Maroon 5 on a sold-out arena tour! Now three years later, Rozzi is back at it again with her next major release Hymn For Tomorrow to show just how far she has grown as an honest artist.
“I wrote the song after running into my ex boyfriend at a party and feeling like the months I’d spent getting over him had suddenly vanished. Being so affected by the sight of someone that you’re willing to let all your friends have fun without you, is a really lonely feeling. For the video, we wanted to capture that vulnerability, moodiness, and melodrama by showing me all dressed up in diamonds, with nowhere to go… Just alone, eating popcorn in bed, with a full face of makeup on. Our brilliant director Jack Begert captured it perfectly. And of course, with the Pandemic, none of us have been able to go to any parties for the last fourteen months- so it took on a whole other meaning!” – Rozzi
Consistently putting her honest image forward, Rozzi wants to use her intensely personal songs for you to take away anything from her upcoming album. The latest single off of this EP, “I Can’t Go To The Party”, fits perfectly into the Rozzi mantra that she has created for herself. Inspired by powerful staples of RnB, the track actually reflects on Rozzi running into a toxic ex at a social gathering and her feelings following the incident. However, “I Can’t Go To The Party” now sports a double meaning as it equally expands on the general feeling that everyone is experiencing as we come out of lockdown and return to some sense of normalcy. While this might be our first introduction to Rozzi, she sure makes one hell of a first impression. If you haven’t had enough of Rozzi, make sure you check out her full Hymn For Tomorrow EP when it drops on July 2nd!
