Canadian Rockers Said The Whale Drop 1st Upbeat 2021 Single “Everything She Touches is Gold to Me”

The Canadian music scene is an intriguing one to watch, especially when you have oddballl successes like today’s artist. On our latest dive into the indie world we are checking out “Everything She Touches is Gold to Me”, the latest single from Said The Whale. Created all the way back in 2007, Said The Whale is a very talented group consisting of singer-songwriters Tyler Bancroft and Ben Worcester, plus keyboardist Jaycelyn Brown and bassist Lincoln Hotchen. Over the course of their 14 year long career Said The Whale has definitely left their mark on the Canadian music scene. They’ve won a JUNO Award, topped the alternative radio chart, and amassed a devoted base of fans who affectionately describe themselves as “SaidHeads”. With six albums already under their belt, Said The Whale was primed and ready to get back into the studio for lucky #7. However, 2020 reared its head and caused them to take a break from their rigurious touring scheduling. Now with plenty of time on their hands, Said The Whale partnered with producer Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat) to craft the largest project of their careers.

“Steve is an incredibly detail-oriented producer, We would work until four or five in the morning. Then sleep at his house and work the next day until late into the night. It was exhausting, but each song came to life in such an amazing way with so many layers.” – Tyler Bancroft

Following the album’s lead single “Honey Lungs”, Said The Whale is back with their first release of 2021 “Everything She Touches is Gold to Me”. While the track may appear as a simple love song at first glance, it actually details the feelings around singer-songwriter Tyler Bancroft’s first date with his partner of 11 years on Sunday November 15, 2009. Featuring the grandiouse arrangements that we know from Said The Whale, the song proudly eminates the anticipation and excitement of that first date and creates an almost happy go lucky vibe tone. Blending pianos with distorted guitars and orchestral sounding synths, the track oozes bright and vivid sounds that was have come to know from Said The Whale. It may be simple, it may be relatable, and it might be catchy. But if anything, it is pure and classic Said The Whale.
