Michal Menert and Adam Tenenbaum Join Forces as Wooden Flowers and Share New Album “Goldtrails”

The Wooden Flowers project is a collaboration between Michal Menert and Adam Tenenbaum, which emerged from their work together on the Dead & Company tour as part of Mickey Hart’s creative team. Their album “GoldTrails,” set to release on July 19th via Gravitas Recordings, began as experimental improvisation sessions in Northern California, featuring heavily effected guitars, touchscreen explorations, live instruments, and a mindset free of expectations. Over several months, these sessions were sculpted into a cohesive album.

Michal Menert is known for his diverse projects and collaborations, highlighting his creativity across various genres. Adam Tenenbaum, also known as Giant Metal Crickets, is recognized for his abstract sonic explorations and contributions to various artists, albums, and film work. “Gold Trails” promises a journey through their innovative artistry, offering listeners an extraordinary and otherworldly experience.

“Goldtrails is a psychedelic, sonic adventure, traversing a range of colors, emotions and grooves. Containing beats, bass glitches, four on the floor dance floor fillers, IDM granular sound design, and painted over with lots of twang, exotic melodies and textures.” – Wooden Flowers

“Goldtrails” opens with an engaging guitar riff and a glitchy, melodic atmosphere that sets the stage for an experimental drop featuring old-school bass sound design. The track maintains a catchy hook while delivering a thrilling sonic experience. “The Stranger” combines classic sampling with a nostalgic western vibe, transitioning into an experimental blend of electro bass that fuses old and new elements.

“Sky River” offers a relaxing, lo-fi beat with soothing guitar melodies, perfect for unwinding. “Dragon Flower” continues this laid-back style but adds a downtempo house feel, infusing the track with energy and psychedelic synths. “Iridescence” provides a feel-good journey with uplifting guitar and synths, culminating in a more danceable house groove. “Cosmic Rider” enhances this groove into an epic four-on-the-floor journey, merging western soundtrack influences with melodic techno. The album closes with “Ghostly Oasis,” featuring the most danceable groove of the collection, blending upbeat rhythms with Wooden Flowers’ experimental melodies for a satisfying conclusion.
