Matrix Reloaded: Freeway Fighting
TITLE: Matrix Reloaded
DIRECTOR: Wachowski Brothers
STARRING: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss
GENRE: Science Fiction
YEAR: 2003
COUNTRY: United States
Alright everybody, here is my review for the second film in the Matrix trilogy, Matrix Reloaded. This is apart of my first movie marathon of late, all three of the Matrix films. Each week you will have at least one.
The Matrix Reloaded stars the majority of the cast from the first film with Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles. In the Matrix Reloaded we follow Morpheus and his crew as they communicate with the Oracle and try to recover the Keymaker. The Keymaker can make unlock any door or any vehicle, which also includes shortcuts in and out of the Matrix. While the film is very slow initially, part way through the second act their is a major fight scene on the freeway. This is a very lengthy scene and honestly the best part of the film, which I will cover later on below.
While the Matrix Reloaded is far below the first film, I did enjoy it. The freeway scene is by far the most notable, with car hopping, fighting on big rigs, blowing up cars with swords, and Neo being Superman. The whole scene is very unrealistic, the scene was definitely entertaining to watch. The whole “shortcut through the Matrix” arc is very interesting. Using the Keymaker, you can access a hallway that includes all of these doors that lead to different parts of the Matrix.
The Matrix Reloaded has been praised on the same level as the first film but critics, but I would definitely say that it didn’t deserve it. The film’s production is way too over the top, and much of the story felt like filler. The main scene that griped me was the end of the film.
*******SPOILER ALERT****”””””
In the climax of the film, the Keymaker is murdered trying to hold open the door to the core of the Matrix. Morpheus disappears through one door to the real world, where Neo continues on. He enters a room and meets the Architect. He is the creator of the Matrix and explains that Neo can either save Trinity or Zion Neo chooses Trinity and thus dooms Zion.
*********END SPOILERS**********
Overall the Matrix Reloaded was not as decent as the first film, but not a horrible waste. Just like ever other sequel ever.
PROS:
- Freeway Fighting
- Interesting but convoluted plot.
- Awesome soundtrack.
CONS:
- Keanu Reeves Neutral face.
- Not much advancement on the plot.
