Folk Rockers The Gulls Release a Playful Anthem For Dirty People with “Sanitation”

In a overly sanitary world, there still needs to be room for the dirt. On our latest peek into the folk world we are checking out “Sanitation”, the latest drop from The Gulls. The Gulls are a unique rock band that blends the musical influences of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Grateful Dead with a contemporary twist. Comprised of members Will Fairhead, Kilian Aubertin, and Tali Knight, they are known for their authentic, on-the-road lifestyle and songs that resonate with themes of freedom, change, and love. In the past year, The Gulls have toured extensively, performing at various venues, festivals, and even on the streets and beaches across the UK and Europe. Notably, they initiated “The Robin Hood Tour,” a daring concept where they staged unauthorized concerts in major UK cities and donated all proceeds to food banks, embodying the spirit of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. The Gulls’ music and actions make them a refreshing and socially conscious force in the modern rock scene.

“We wanted to do a fun, dirty, singalong party song and so it was written in the back of the van on a summer’s day as a playful response to the way the world looks right now. It’s like society’s got this surface level sanitary sheen, and everyones carrying their passport in their pocket on the other side of a screen, and buying plastic wrapped dopamine from who knows where it’s been, and hiding their taboos and following the rules without asking what they mean, when we all know full well someone must be doing the dirty. Being a traveling rock & roll band living on the road, I guess you could say it’s not the easiest for us to keep to the sanitary expectations of society.” – The Gulls

The Gulls are boldly venturing into uncharted musical territory, defying conventional genre boundaries with their innovative fusion of folk, psychedelia, and rock & roll. Their unique sonic brew yields a sound that is undeniably distinctive, reflecting their creative prowess and musical ingenuity. Their most recent release, “Sanitation,” stands as a testament to their fearless exploration of music. This track is a vivacious folk rock/gypsy anthem, crafted for those who resist conforming to an overly sanitized world. “Sanitation” radiates a raw, upbeat, and provocative energy, reflecting the band’s unapologetic attitude. It serves as a musical declaration of personal freedom, sexual liberation, and a challenge to the societal norms that attempt to shape our desires. These themes are recurring motifs in The Gulls’ music, symbolizing their commitment to addressing essential aspects of the human experience through their art.

In essence, The Gulls are not only creating captivating music but also engaging in a profound conversation with their listeners, encouraging them to question the status quo and embrace their authenticity in a world that often seeks to homogenize individuality. “Sanitation” exemplifies their fearless spirit and their dedication to pushing musical boundaries while delving into themes that resonate deeply with their audience.
