Atmospheric Bass Producer Canabliss Releases Surreal Bass “Plasma” EP On WAKAAN!

Sometimes when a creative person can’t find exactly what they are looking for to pique their interest, they simple take production into their own hands and make it into their own. On our latest visit over to WAKAAN we are checking out Plasma, the brand new EP from Canabliss. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Canabliss creator Samantha Infusini discovered her talent for producing unique musical soundscapes thanks to her creative eye and drive to create her own unique sound. Dabbling in many different digital mediums including photography, music, and video games, Infusini developed a deep love for electronic music and began carefully crafting the Canabliss project, becoming an autodidact (a self-taught musician) in the process. Not held back by the bounds of genre or style, Canabliss focuses on developing her own sound and has already caught the attentions of minimalist bass everywhere thanks to her debut release “Freak It” on SSKWAN back in July 2021.

“Electricity is everywhere, even in our own brains. Currents is about forming connections spiritually and physically in life. In this EP ‘Plasma’ I explored new sound design with tons of heavy bass and dark atmospheres to help express some of the more difficult times we experienced these past couple years. In Canada we’ve still been pretty much locked down without any live music available, so writing music has been my primary outlet.” – Canabliss

When we have a rather unique artist like Canabliss, it’s very difficult to fit them within a box to describe their sound accurately, that often being the point of the project. This Plasma EP is no exception, with each of the four tracks balancing a minimalist approach to electronic music with a twinge of heavy bass surrounded by darkness. Canabliss’s unsettling sound design is brilliant, serving its purpose well as an interpretation of people’s feelings and struggles over the last few years. “Quicksand” is our personal favorite, with each beat and sound forming together to portray the passing of time via atmospheric bass intriguing our curiosity to no end.  Canabliss plans to be very busy in 2022, with plenty of new music on the way and appearances at Forbidden Kingdom, Summer Camp, and more US festivals to be announced. If you are a fan of odd but comforting/unsettling atmospheric bass, Canabliss and Plasma should already be on your radar.
