Ant Thomaz Brings the Spirit of Celebration to “Good Times Roll”

Ant Thomaz is a Glasgow-based singer-songwriter whose music reflects a life shaped by multiple cultures, drawing from his family roots in southern Louisiana and his creative home in Scotland. Blending folk, soul, pop, zydeco, and rock, his sound is instinctive and emotionally grounded, built on strong melodies, rhythm, and warmth. Writing songs since the age of twelve, Thomaz draws inspiration from personal experience, heritage, and the small, human moments of everyday life, creating music that feels intimate yet widely relatable.

From busking on the streets of Glasgow to performing on major festival stages, Thomaz has built a career rooted in connection, authenticity, and community. He has supported artists such as Happy Mondays and Sheku Kanneh-Mason, earned BBC airplay including BBC 6 Music, and appeared at festivals like Celtic Connections, Belladrum, and the Edinburgh Fringe. With “Good Times Roll” ushering in a new chapter and his debut solo album on the way, Thomaz is focused on making music that transcends borders and labels, inviting listeners to feel present, hopeful, and fully alive.

“Good Times Roll” marks a vibrant new chapter for Ant Thomaz, conceived as a “Scottish Mardi Gras” built around rhythm, movement, and community. Intentionally bringing together musicians who could truly live inside the groove, Thomaz blends Louisiana Mardi Gras traditions with influences from Bollywood, South African rhythms, and Celtic music, creating a unified, celebratory sound that transcends place or genre. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Chris Gordon, the track took nearly a year and over 60 mixes to complete, all in pursuit of a feeling rather than perfection—something that captures joy in motion and collective energy.

Lyrically, the song reflects on finding calm within chaos, embracing new beginnings, and moving through life with greater balance and awareness. Guided by melody-first songwriting, Thomaz naturally explores themes of self-discovery, frequency, and preserving a youthful spirit. While optimism defines the track, it is embraced as a necessary and powerful force, shaped by Thomaz’s perspective as a husband and father and offered as a message of joy, self-affirmation, and hope for listeners to carry into their own lives.
